University of the Philippines, UPLB Campus – Los Baños
The University of the Philippines Los Baños (also referred to as UPLB, UP Los Baños, or colloquially, Elbi) is a public research university located in the towns of Los Baños and Bay in the province of Laguna, some 64 kilometers southeast of Manila. It traces its roots to the UP College of Agriculture (UPCA), which was founded in 1909 by the American colonial government to promote agricultural education and research in the Philippines. American botanist Edwin Copeland served as its first dean. UPLB was formally established in 1972 following the union of UPCA with four other Los Baños and Diliman-based University of the Philippines (UP) units.

Golden Jubilee “Thai Pavilion”, UPLB – Los Baños
Thai Pavilion is a small Thai-inspired pavilion. Currently, little is known about the history and purpose of this small pavilion here in the campus other than being called the Golden Jubilee Pavilion. Only a few people know the secrets that lie within this structure.

Rizal Centenary Carrillon Tower, UPLB – Los Baños
Formally known as the Rizal Centenary Carillon Tower, the Carillion Tower is considered as the tallest building in UPLB. An interesting fact from Wikipedia states that while other carillon towers have 23 bells, the Carillion Tower has 37 bells making it the second largest non-traditional carillon in the Asia-Pacific region. It is also one of only two non-traditional carillons in the Philippines.

Philippine Pegasus, UPLB – Los Baños
A famous landmark in UPLB is the “Pegaraw”. It’s formally known as the Philippine Pegasus, a winged tamaraw. It stands in front of the Main Library, which is believed to be the largest agricultural library in Asia according to Wikipedia.

Maria Makiling Park, UPLB – Los Baños
A field statue of Maria Makiling marking the entrance to the College of Forestry and the Makiling Forest Reserve. Because of its unusual location, the sculpture is often mistaken as a white lady or something at night by some wannabe ghost busters.

National Arts Center and Philippine High School for the Arts, Mt. Makiling – Los Baños
The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) is a specialized public high school in the Philippines offering arts-focused education established in 1978 by virtue of Presidential Decree 1287. An attached agency of the Department of Education, it consults with the Cultural Center of the Philippines for policy and program implementation of its arts program. Aside from the Basic Education curriculum prescribed by the government, it offers various specializations in the field of arts.
Entrance to the school is highly competitive: at any given time, it has a small population of 130-145 students to ensure high quality of instruction. Students accepted into the PHSA are given full scholarship and living assistance. Its campus is located in the National Arts Center in Mount Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna.
